A minimal review for a minimal collection // MINIMAL MAGICAL ⋆

"It's classic, elegant.....but absolutely unpredictable!
It's Minimal Magical: a collection made up of revisited classics by Neve Cosmetics."

Comfort-zone-type shades one can wear without a second thought. They match any season, any outfit, any skin tone. The little black dress equivalent for makeup, but with a little twist! Must-haves made unique.

Minimal Magical is a collection meant to celebrate traditional elegance and originality at the same time.

THE EYESHADOWS - MEME & SAUDADE

When I first got the email from Neve Cosmetics, I wasn't expecting to find NEW shades that I didn't already have in my collection, but surprisingly....these were completely new to me! I tried to find similar shadows from Neve and other brands that I could compare them to, in vain.

So if I were you I wouldn't stick to first impressions with these ones, do not take them for granted. They may result quite useful to both beginners and more expert makeup users. It's their undertones which  make them look unique and very pretty on the eye. Plus, after testing them both, I can confirm they have long durability. I put both on my eyelid, applying them with my finger (I prefer it to brushes for these kind of shadows - they're very pigmented and buttery and I find applying them with a brush wouldn't give justice to the colour, as well as producing much more fallout), they stayed all day. And not even a normal, chill day, I mean a woke-up-at-5-am-for-work type of day.
Plus, after that, I didn't even have to retouch my eyes to hang out with friends in the evening, till 3 am of the next day. Gorgeous!

Meme is a tobacco brown pressed eyeshadow with duochrome brass shimmers. It is, like Saudade, perfect for all skin tones and eye colours. It's a classic shade which you can never go wrong with. Perfect alone for a simpler look, or combined with a darker matte to create a smokey.
Ingredients: Talc, Mica, Octyldodecyl Stearoyl Stearate, Magnesium Stearate, Cetearyl Ethylhexanoate, Caprylyl Glycol, Tocopheryl Acetate, Retinyl Palmitate. May Contain (+/-): CI 77491 (Iron Oxide), CI 77499 (Iron Oxide).
Saudade is a light hazelnut pressed eyeshadow with romantic duochrome dusty pink shimmers. Poetry for your eyelids. I personally suggest to use it all over the lid by itself for a super natural, luminous makeup, for everyday occasions - or - on the inner corner to add a little spark in your look.
Ingredients: Talc, Mica, Octyldodecyl Stearoyl Stearate, Magnesium Stearate, Cetearyl Ethylhexanoate, Caprylyl Glycol, Tocopheryl Acetate, Retinyl Palmitate, Tin Oxide. May Contain (+/-): CI 77891 (Titanium Dioxide), CI 77491 (Iron Oxide), CI 77492 (Iron Oxide), CI 77499 (Iron Oxide).

THE BLUSH - DIZZY

Cold rosy blush with magic powers: work it on the skin and watch how the undertone warms up, leaving you in a daze!

Dizzy is a cold rosey matte blush in a pan, with lilac undertones. It's the kind of colour that would immediately catch my eye, but you'd think it wouldn't suit everyone's taste if you're a sucker for warmer shades. That's where you can be wrong with Dizzy, its coldness is not overpowering at all, and a little goes a long, looooong way for recreating a quite natural I-just-saw-my-crush type of cheek.
Careful not to go crazy with the brush as it's really pigmented.

THE VERNISSAGE - PROSERPINE

The Vernissage lip glosses are inspired by paintings. It gives lips a long-lasting and comfortable lacquer effect thanks to its high-quality vegetable ingredients such as macadamia nut oil and pomegranate extracts.
For lips to admire!

Here's the new addition to Neve's gloss family. Proserpine is a full-coverage, glossy deep ruby red lip tint. Prerafaelite art meets the sleek sensuality of the vinyl effect. How can anyone dare to say they're a makeup lover if a ruby red lipstick wasn't carefully stocked on their dressing table?

I have to say, the colour  is absolutely stunning, and this shade is one of the glosses with the most coverage, although I would still suggest to apply it on top of a lip liner for a precise effect. In this case, I picked the Pastello "Teatro", so we can stick to Neve, as they look like they're made for each other ;)

Although I really really like it, I'm not sure it's the most flattering on me, but I fully understand the decision to add a red to this must-have collection. And let me remind you why I prefer the Vernissages to any other gloss, they're not as liquid, don't get messy, and last a little longer than a typical gloss, especially the high coverage ones. Even when gone, they still leave a pleasant shadow of colour on the lips.

The swatches above, as well as proving how ideal Teatro would be underneath Proserpine, will help  you understand how unique all the shades are, and how this new Vernissage has nothing to envy to the others.

CONCLUSIONS

Well. yeah. Where to start. If I'm honest, I'd have to say each time I see a collection that's this tiny, I'm immediately suspicious and wonder if I'd like what it brings to the table. Because it's usually a hit or miss kinda thing. The less variety, the less chance to encounter everyone's taste. But Neve did a good job by giving us something we didn't know we needed. If I can allow myself to make an observation, the only thing I would of added to this collection would be a darker matte shade to apply on the crease, so it would be 100% complete.

Apart from that, I applaud you Neve, as usual.

Remember the promo available till the end of THIS day:
The collection can be purchased singularly or all together at a discounted price. So HURRY!

Also, let  me know what you think about it, it's always a pleasure exchanging makeup knowledge and opinions. Have a nice one guys and girls! xx
