Neve Cosmetics Fluffy Matte Compact Powder // Review, Comparisons

The brand has implemented its Flat Perfection line with the new Fluffy Matte Powder...who wants to know what it's like? And what distinguishes it from the rest of the powders available? Find out here ;)

The new Fluffy Matte Compact Powder has landed and become a new member of Neve Cosmetics' family, a pretty accurate arrival for these hot summer days, the fourth of the line with the Drama Matte, Velvet Matte and Alabaster Touch powders.
Silicone-free, vegetarian and vegan pressed face powder. The face powder for those who don’t like a “powdered” face! Impalpable, transparent, perfect for setting makeup flawlessly even on the most delicate areas. Its evanescent finish blends instantly on the skin emphasizing its natural vibrancy. Ideal for setting liquid and creamy products or simply for perfecting the texture of the skin without drying it out.
The name "Fluffy" says it all. That's what they want you to feel and imagine, something soft, delicate, silky. The formula is talcum based and enriched with Mica, Corn and Tapioca Starch.

Disclaimer: Recently, talcum has been the subject of many controversies, including a very serious case of cancerous products, on which I want to clarify - it's asbestos, not talcum, that is dangerous for the skin - so unless you already have experience with talcum not reacting too well on your face, you can certainly relax.

The packaging is the same as the other 3 options, shaped like the stones you find in japanese-style zen gardens. It's nacre coloured and looks very sleek, with a mirror inside - really handy, in my opinion, for when you're on-the-go - but without the typical flat sponge applicator (some think it's useful, some don't, as it's not the best hygenically, but I wouldn't mind it to be honest).

Ingredients: Talc, Mica, Zea Mays Starch [Zea Mays (Corn) Starch], Tapioca Starch, Octyldodecyl Stearoyl Stearate, Potassium Sorbate. May Contain (+/-): CI 77492 (Iron Oxides), CI 77499 (Iron Oxides), CI 77491 (Iron Oxides), CI 77891 (Titanium Dioxide).

The powder has a neutral colour, which on me looks good enough as I am a Light Neutral for all the foundations Neve has come out with. I would recommend it to anyone from a light to a neutral skintone, maybe even with a slight yellow undertone as myself to the very most, but no darker than that otherwise the neck-to-face difference would look too extreme.

It's pretty mattifying, goes on the skin well and feels extremely soft, probably the most delicate and velvety my face has ever felt. I like to apply it with a big face brush and I was inspired by Helen Anderson's video for my new base routine: after each step, I spray a little setting spray on, and I also do it after powder, and it really helps to fix the makeup and keep it on all day long.

The best feature of this powder though, is that it doesn't underline fine lines or wrinkles. Yes, I said it's mattifying, but not the most mattifying of the range, as that's the Drama Matte Powder, which I believe it's more appropriate for the summer, especially if you're very oily. However, it lasts 6+ hours, doesn't look cakey and helps maintain a healthy glow, with just a quick touch-up for the day.

What I wouldn't recommend the Fluffy Matte or the Drama Matte for, is dry skin. For those people the Velvet Matte is the way to go. It's the dry skin equivalent of the Fluffy Matte, and it's also perfect for whoever enjoys a super light powder.
The Alabaster Touch Powder is instead indicated for the girls and boys who wanna add a lil' colour and warmth to the complexion (obviously be cautious if you're fair skinned, it might not be ideal for you).
