Neve Cosmetics Amber Wonderland Palette // Review

Neve Amber Wonderland

Part 2 of my #cialdaparty dedicated posts!
I present you the Neve Cosmetics Amber Wonderland palette - for warm-toned makeup lovers.

Neve Amber Wonderland

Oh hello, hello, hello again peeps!
Today we are going to talk about THE most discussed bundle of the two limited edition palettes which came out for the refill-typed products' promo offered by the brand until August 27th.
The Amber, like her sister Bohemian Romance, has a pretty minimalistic packaging (light purple body and deep purple for the font of the brand) and has 10 quite big pans, about double the size of a standard Urban Decay palette - just so you have some terms of comparison.

The Shades

(From Left to Right: Mezza Estate, Sunset, California, Red Carpet, Black Sheep)

I will start with the best shades I found to then conclude with my least favourites (I know, heartache).
(From Left to Right: Butterfly, Snob, Fenice, Ufo, Espresso)
Neve Amber Wonderland

Fenice

"Intense warm coppery duochrome with a pink glow"

This is by far the best one out of all palettes. Like I said in my previous post, it is similar to Lithium from the Bohemian Palette. From what point of view though? The formula - buttery is the word, and extremely pigmented. The colour is to me absolutely breathtaking, and many will agree with me. I mean copper + pink undertones equals fireworks!

I tried to compare it with two different eyeshadows I own: Tour by Neve, which resulted to be more on the browny side than Fenice (which is more red); Rust by Nabla, same as Tour, still doesn't have the reddish element present in Fenice.

Mezza Estate

"Ochre yellow duochrome with pink shimmers"

It was a revelation. You know, it's quite common to privilege bolder shades, they are so pleasant to swatch because you can already tell they're going to look great on you, whilst with lighter ones you can't really expect the VA-VA-VOOM factor. But this little beauty, my god. It brightens up the eye, it's such an effortless eyeshadow, a little eyeliner and you're ready for the day.

I don't personally own anything like Mezza Estate, as Sin from the Naked 1 Palette by Urban Decay Cosmetics is not as pink toned.

Red Carpet

"Matte dark imperial red"

Red Carpet is decently pigmented, quite buildable. It is a matte, but a really rich, and luminous kind of matte red. A must-have shade in your eyeshadow collection.

Ufo

"Metallic and magnetic burgundy"
Neve Ufo swatch
Ufo is kind of a counterpart for "Fiori d'Ombra" from the Bohemian. But I do enjoy Ufo more, because whilst Fiori needs to be applied wet to fully appreciate its potential, the pigment in Ufo pops on its own, in its dry form.

Ufo is the only eyeshadow in this palette I found an actual perfect dupe for, Daphne n°2 by Nabla.

Butterfly

"Matte cream"
Neve Butterfly swatch
Butterfly, as a matte, feels quite smooth and creamy, it is literally the perfect base shade, evens out the lid, covers any residue of any sort of discoloration.

W.O.S by Urban Decay Cosmetics' Naked Basics Palette is a little similar, but more on the pink side than Butterfly, which is a real cream shade.

Espresso

"Matte brown/black"
Neve Espresso swatch
Espresso, speaking of counterparts in comparing the two limited edition bundles, I felt like could be compared to Robot. Only thing is, Espresso is obviously warmer, but also more pigmented and a little difficult to work with. I would suggest to build the colour up carefully.

California

"Biscuity pink bronzer with a velvety finish"
Neve California swatch
California is a warm bronzer which could be great as a transition shade as well. It's really delicate and easily buildable.

Black Sheep

"Matte absolute black"

Head over to my previous post, where I said a little something about the shadow. It's kind of a standard matte black, not my favourite one so far, but it is a matter of personal preference at the end of the day.

Black Sheep is basically identical to Crave from the Naked Basics Palette.

Snob

"Sophisticated and luminous shimmering cold gold/beige"
Neve Snob swatch
Snob is my second least favourite I'm afraid. I expected it to be more blinding to be honest, especially after swatching it on my hand. However I noticed it does lose a little beauty and all its glory once on the lid - a little powdery, I find the sparkles create a sort of messy effect that I didn't love.

Snob is quite a weird gold, for example, compared to Half Baked from the Naked Palette it is much paler.

Sunset

"Matte bright orangey peach"
Neve Sunset swatch
I had high expectations on this little guy, as it's still quite difficult for me to find a greatly pigmented matte orange. But oh, nope. It is quite powdery and really pale, it doesn't even show up on the skin when applied, and it brings extreme amounts of fallout. Didn't pass the test for me I'm sad to say.

I have to say I actually prefer the Wycon n°36 shadow, which is definitely more pigmented, creamier, and more intense.

Conclusion

I already expressed my preference for the Bohemian Romance (only because I found MORE shades that satisfied me, that's all), but obviously if you're a fan of warm colours, and like the selection you have in this specific palette, I would go for it.
If you were thinking of purchasing a few, my suggestions would be: Fenice, Mezza Estate, Red Carpet, Butterfly - they are absolutely beautiful!
Hope you liked this review and make sure to check Neve's website for the #cialdaparty!

Much love, see you very soon xoxo
