If you want to know how I like it, then read on!
What’s up everybody!
Let’s not even talk about how I feel at the moment, because it would look like I complain about my health and give justifications in every post, and that’s not the vibe we are going for here is it? :D
I may talk about what’s going on in the future, just bear with me for a while <3
Let’s drive straight into the juicy stuff, and you may tell me how your week is going so far - now that would cheer me up more haha!
This post is going to be dedicated to the Bohemian Romance Palette by Neve Cosmetics in occasion of the #cialdaparty, a promo regarding all refill products available until the 27th of August with a sweet 20% off discount.
May I remind you that all my Italian gals and boys will be able to take advantage of the 1 euro shipping price when spending 19 euros or more, and for our European friends - 5 euros!

This palette is made up of 10 pre-existent eyeshadow/highlighter/blush refills. The bundle was put together by the adorable staff at Neve, to satisfy their customers’ requests.
Now I know there has been some controversy about the price of them, and what I think is: the company itself gave official explanations on the reason why they are the price that they are, it has become more expensive for them to produce their goodies, so that’s fair enough for me. At the end of the day if you think a brand provides good quality stuff, a slight increase in price is not the end of the world in my opinion, especially if y’all take in consideration their specific cruelty-free, and general junk-free product philosophy.
Whether you are happy about it or not the company hasn’t limited its customers ‘options, and if you only like a few of the shades, go ahead and purchase them individually, or if you can’t afford them all at once, there’s still a chance to get some with the actual promo and the rest in the future.
Anyways, you can obviously customize your own Neve Palette as well, or use a magnetic palette of your preference.
The Shades
(From Left to Right: Newton, Calm, Wow, Nowhere, Fiori d'Ombra)
After I received both palettes (may the God of makeup bless Ilaria and the Neve Team for life) I thought the Amber Wonderland Palette would end up being my favourite one of the two, because it’s the shades I always go for!
I couldn’t have been more wrong. In fact, from a pigmentation/formula ratio point of view, The Bohemian was a pleasant discovery. Being a Neve Cosmetics loose mineral eyeshadow hoarder, I only had Wow from the Palette, so I can say I found some stunning new entries I would re – purchase when terminated.
(From Left to Right: Lithium, Robot, Mela Stregata, Veleno, Black Sheep)
“Matte grey with taupe undertone”.
As the website states, it is a perfect transition colour. Just careful with picking up too much product, as a little goes a very long way. It’s easy to blend and buildable.
“Absolute matte black “.
It is a regular black eyeshadow, very buildable, and a bit patchy so I would say I personally found matte black shades that worked better on me. As us Italians would say: no shame, no glory in this one ;)
“Shimmering grape purple”.
This shade was a little tricky to figure out properly.
It can sort of be compared to the shade “Ufo” from the Amber palette, only this is cooler toned and a little less pigmented, so it may help applying it wet. Darker and less shimmery than Juno Moon by Nabla.
“Mineral silver shade with a subtle mauve undertone”.
This shimmer shade is my favourite of them all when it comes to formulation because it is the equivalent of Fenice from the Amber Palette, which is super-duper creamy and strong in colour. Obviously this is a more delicate “colour”, but so nice to play with, no effort at all to apply it and gives a luminous, cold, metallic–y note to the eye.
“Frozen” by Nabla can be the only one comparable, but it is a pure grey, where the mauve undertone’s not present.
“A compact duochrome shade in fuchsia purple and aqua green shimmers”.
This is my favourite eyeshadow of the
selection, it’s super pigmented and looks FANTASTIC on green eyes. Duochromes by Neve are a must, and here’s
the link to the Duochrome Palette for anyone interested.
It’s also definitely different compared to Camaleonte (loose mineral eyeshadow); the latter has a warm brown base with more blue–ish aqua green reflexes, compared to the purple based Mela Stregata, where the aqua green looks more green compared to Camaleonte. Alchemy by Nabla Cosmetics, on the other hand, has a purple base like Mela Stregata, but the reflexes are a really bright, light blue.
“Warm lilac hues on an extremely
transparent base.”
A gorgeous lilac highlighter, which turned
out to be not just my favourite component ever between the two Palettes, but
also my favourite highlighter, in the whole make up world. I honestly have been
looking for a lilac coloured highlighter that was pigmented enough for ages
now, after a couple sorta-disappointments: NYX Duochromatic Illuminating Powder
in “Lavender Steel”; Makeup Revolution Vivid Baked Highlighter in “PinkLights”.
I’m weird and I like to wear lilac on my
cheekbones on a daily basis, OK?
It is blinding, it is smooth, just careful
for any fallout, you don’t want to waste any of that goodness.
“Duochrome dark tobacco brown with green shimmers”.
Veleno, like Mela Stregata, is very rich in colour, and really creamy and intense. Yet again, duochrome shadows by Neve are incredible, and this is as great as the others. Usually green on green eyes, if too light, tend to not make them pop as I wish, but the dark, brown component in Veleno makes it ideal for me.
“Fuchsia Pink duochrome with lilac undertones”.
Beautiful, and more pigmented if you gently pat it wet on the lid. It’s something quite different from everything I own.
Possible comparison: Calypso by Nabla Cosmetics, only this one’s darker, more on the purple side.

Calm resulted to look better on lighter toned skin (I know, I tried it on me and on a poor friend who’s been my guinea pig, haha), and to be more buildable than Nowhere. The first one is described as “ a delicate milky shade with a matte finish”, and Nowhere as a “nude peach shade with beige undertone”. For me, personally, Calm is THE thing, it looks incredibly natural, as if you’re not even wearing any make up. If that’s the look you normally go for, then I would definitely get my hands on it!
Both of them are more on the natural side compared to “Escape” from the Psychotropical Collection, don’t think Nowhere would be much similar to Escape, as the warm brown undertone is quite strong in it, and Escape is entirely peach.

Conclusion
Well, well, like I said, this palette was the best one of the two for me. I appreciated it because it is cool toned, but they’re all pretty much purple shades, and that’s usually the only cool toned colours I think look pretty on me. Let’s say I would have definitely struggled a bit more with some blues for example. I am forever grateful for having found my highlighter of choice, and again, thanks again to Neve Cosmetics for trusting me and my opinions.
