Neve Cosmetics Tea Time // Review, Promo, Swatches

Let me introduce you to the sweetest (literally) Neve Cosmetics Collection, just in time for spring! Tea Time, as the name clearly states, gravitates around one of my favourite things on earth, and I'm here to let you have a peak into it.

Ahhh. Who doesn't love tea? My British-at-heart person is always in the mood for it, and has come to appreciate and love a good old cuppa Earl Grey, with a little milk (just enough to make the perfect shade of beigy-caramel - very few people in Italy avoid questioning my mental sanity when witnessing this magic haha).
But seriously, not liking tea to me is like not liking Harry Potter = people you CANNOT trust. So you can imagine my excitement upon having an all tea themed launch from one of my favourite makeup brands. My expectations were high, and haven't been disappointed for the most part.

GENERAL INFORMATION:

The colors of the early-blooming flowers, the enchantment of tea time. The new spring collection by Neve Cosmetics is a picnic of romantic and playful shades. On the eyes, the green reflections of the tea leaves go hand in hand with the warm browns of the most intense and aromatic blends. Pink hues as glowing as sugar candies adorn the cheeks, the lips are glazed with tints straight out from Wonderland. Makeup becomes a magical moment, midway between dream and reality.
The collection includes two Inkme eyeliners, three blushes and three pressed eyeshadows, a Pastello Lipstick and two lipglosses.

As usual, thanks to Ilaria and the team for being so kind and valuing my opinion on their launches, and omg the blooming tea you've sent! SPECTACULAR, I have always wanted to try it and you made one of my dreams come true. Your professionalism towards bloggers and customers blows me away. But let's jump right into this treat!

THE EYESHADOWS:

  1. Tonka
  2. Earl Grey
  3. Matcha

They are exactly what I expected them to be: delicate. And pretty spot on as for the theme. The two mattes are a cool and a warm everyday shades, plus the shimmer one is basically the pan equivalent of Neve's Peyote Loose Mineral Eyeshadow. A lot more practical, I would say, and creamy like all shimmer shades from the brand.

(From left to right Tonka, Matcha, Earl Grey)

Tonka and Earl Grey, as mattes, are a little dryer, and they do have a little bit of fallout, but I noticed them not looking patchy at all on the eyes. They blend quite well. Unsurprisingly though, my favourite shade is Matcha, 'cause I'm a sucker for duochrome shimmers.
  • "Tonka is an intense matte dark yellow ocher, spectacular in bringing out gray, blue and brown eyes." I can definitely see it more as part of a summer appropriate make up, on the lid with a warm brown on the crease. When I saw it, I immediately though "SURE, Caramel from Nabla Cosmetics!". I couldn't have been more wrong, as this one's definitely lighter and more orange, rather than brown. It's a mustard shade I didn't own, and I'm happy to add it to my collection.

  • "Earl Grey is a cold pink beige, velvety finish. An adorable classic, just like its namesake tea blend." It's the least eye-catching colour, but a must and a great transition shade. Imagine how pretty it would be on green eyes, as it almost looks purple-ish, and everybody knows that's what makes green eyes pop the most. I've also got a soft spot for it, because it is indeed my favourite tea.

  • "Matcha is a transparent duochrome with golden green shimmer crystals. The inspiration for this shade comes from the reflection in a cup of freshly-poured green tea. It can be used alone or on top of other colors to create magical contrasting effects."

Matcha has no fallout, I can't stop but praising their shimmers, they're so pigmented and easy to apply. I love to use it as highlighter in my inner corner, but it also looks great for a halo look, just like the one I realised here.

THE BLUSHES:

  1. Teacup
  2. White Tea
  3. Oolong

Okay, what to say apart from WOAH. Yep, Neve, you won with this one. What we have here is a matte formulated blush, and two shimmers. I particularly appreciate the versatility of them all, there's a shade perfect for every skin tone and individual taste. Plus, Teacup and White Tea can also be used as shadows, and such nice shades of pink for a shadow, I must say.
(From left to right: Oolong, White Tea, Teacup)

They are all very pigmented, so I suggest going easy with the brush. Oolong is the darkest of all, so maybe I wouldn't consider it a good match for pale skin. My favourite one of all is Teacup, it'll give that pop of colour your cheeks need for Spring/Summer time, and the shimmers add a beautiful extra glow. White Tea, I'd say, works as highlighter for medium to darker complexions.

  • "Teacup is a pearly medium pink with light mauve highlights. A true concentrate of romantic bon ton. Inspiration? A dollhouse’s tea set." - How pretty is it?!

"White Tea is a warm dusty rose with pearly reflections. The bright and evanescent finish makes it the perfect highlighter, too."

  • "Oolong is a lightly desaturated rosy marsala red. Velvety finish, deep in color but evanescent on the cheeks."

THE LIP PRODUCTS:

  1. Cloud
  2. Mad Tea Party
  3. Down The Rabbit Hole

Thaaaaaaaat's another win win situation, but did you expect otherwise? I mean, we have appreciated the Vernissage Glosses and the Pastello Pencils in several blog posts before, and looks like - I'm not changing my mind any time soon. The key word for these is "fresh".

Mad Tea Party is a gorgeous, GORGEOUS coral, and it is high coverage, very pigmented, so as you can see it's possible to even go with a little overdrawing and make your lips look plumper. Same with Cloud, the lip liner, a my-lips-but-better colour perfect for everyday use.

Down The Rabbit Hole is a transparent, barbie pink gloss, and I'd see it going so well with a more au naturel, sunkissed look for the Summer. Probably my least favourite as I tend to prefer bolder, and matte lippies, but if you're in for a delicate touch of pink, this one's for you.

  • "Mad Tea Party is a hot strawberry pink with coral undertone. The undeniable appeal of madness!"
  • "Down The Rabbit Hole is a chewing-gum pink with a milky and smooth finish gloss."

  • "Cloud is a mauve pink, fluffy like a cloud. The light warm dusty rose sheen gives a beautiful volume effect to the lips." If you want it compared to another Pastello, I'd say the closest is Orchidea, maybe it's a little less vibrant though.

THE EYELINERS:

  1. Darjeeling
  2. Assam

At this point I should say 'last but not least', but I intended to leave these at the bottom for a reason. They're the products from this collection I had the most problems with. Now, I've never used them before, so I have no terms of comparison regarding the formula. But I can say what I've experienced with these two in particular. The packaging is adorable, and you get 4 ml in a cute plastic, see through container, with a white lid and cute little egyptian like blue eyes on it.

The applicator is a tiny sponge, never seen it before, I think it does the job although I like my eyeliners in more of a sharpie/pen form, so I can be precise. I'm not the best at applying eyeliner haha!

Ingredients: Aqua (Water), Glycerin, Magnesium Aluminum Silicate, Hydrogenated Vegetable Oil, C14-22 Alcohols, Arachidyl Alcohol, Xanthan Gum, C12-20 Alkyl Glucdside, Acacia Senegal Gum, Behenyl Alcohol, Arachidyl Glucdside, Sodium Phytate, Sodium Dehydroacetate, Mica, Tin Oxide, Caprylyl Glycol, 1,2- Hexanediol, Tropolone (+/-) May Contain: Ci 77891 (Titanium Dioxide), Ci 77491 (Iron Oxide), Ci 77492 (Iron Oxide), Ci 77499 (Iron Oxide), Ci 77742 (Manganese Violet), Ci 77007 (Ultramarines), Ci 77510 (Ferric Ammonium Ferrocyanide), Ci 42090 (Blue 1 Lake), Ci 19140 (Yellow 5 Lake).
  • "Assam is a warm mustard brown with an absolute matte finish. Exotic elegance to outline the eyes."
  • "Darjeeling is a warm clear hazelnut with aquamarine reflections. A defining and highlighting shade, adding that ‘certain something’ to the eyes. It’s also adorable used as an eyeshadow on the whole eyelid!"

To be honest, I'm not a huge fan. They're not that pigmented, and the picture doesn't show that this was the result of at least 3 layers. Assam is okay, I can use it again, because I saw that at least, however dry they seem to feel, one positive thing is that they don't crack. Darjeeling, I thought was similar to Camaleonte, but it's actually a lot different (it's got a brown base instead of a purple one). It has potential, the colour, and the green reflexes would have looked glorious if only more thicker and more pigmented. Such a shame, it's too liquid and it takes ages to build up and get the effect shown in the picture above. But I'm definitely gonna try use it in my inner corner to highlight!

What's your favourite piece from Tea Time?
