Neve Cosmetics has changed all its pencils' formula and style for the Pastello Revolution! If you want to know a bit more about these exciting news and trust my opinion enough, then read on. ❤
ABOUT THE BRAND:
Neve Cosmetics is an independent Italian brand created in 2009. The meaning behind their name is "Snow", and, as they write on their website, it was meant to refer to people's diversity in comparison to the uniqueness of each snowflake.
Apart from the extreme, out-of-this-world cuteness of the idea, what they are mostly proud of is their natural, cruelty-free products. In fact, for them, parabens, silicons and overall garbage are a no-no. They do not test on animals, which is already cool enough, although it doesn't end here.
Neve is also active in supporting many animal rescue projects in Italy, for which they managed to donate over 70,000 euros.
Important to mention is also their great involvement in helping our less furry fellow humans in need of a reason to smile, through initiatives where make up (and having fun with it) is the absolute protagonist.
But.... let's talk about the pencils, because I'M ALREADY TEARING UP OKAY?
#PASTELLOREVOLUTION:
All the make up addicts in and outside Italy would have tried, or at least heard about Neve's Pastello pencils, especially the lip ones, which have stolen hearts everywhere.
Known to be already super comfy, after an additional improvement applied to the formula from the Wild Eyes Collection on, the success was granted.
The new formula has now been made available for all shades: 28 eye pencils and 23 lip pencils in total. On a plus note, the packaging has changed too, and for the better, in my opinion.
PASTELLO LIP PENCILS:
(Top to bottom: Vino, Cappuccino, Sfilata, Orchidea, Teatro, Miele, Ballerina)
From their original design - wooden, with the colour shade surrounding the logo - the pencils went to having the colours covering their entire length, by making it easier to distinguish one shade from another. Style-wise, I personally approve this choice for the practical reason I already shared, but also because I think they look more sleek, sophisticated. The lip pencils also differ from the eye ones for the beigy pink colour of their lids.

The formula is indeed soft, almost creamy, and very pigmented. Neve has definitely maintained and improved the versatility of the product, which can be easily - and is more likely to be - used as a lipstick. The colour applies evenly on the lips (and from this point of view, the most dramatic change was in the old vs new shade "Vino" -> swatches on my Instagram post -> HERE) and hydrates them. By doing so, even though they can last for a good few hours (especially the darker tones), as soon as you start getting the infamous "butthole lip", or when the colour fades in certain spots, it's easy to spread by simply rubbing your lips together.
The shades I got to try:
VINO - "Dark plum red with an opaque finish."
TEATRO - "Intense crimson with a velvet finish."
ORCHIDEA - "Vivid pink with amaranth undertones. Super creamy in texture and with a velvety finish."
SFILATA - "Vivid amaranth with an opaque finish. With a blue base, the perfect marriage between velvety burgundy and bright intense fuchsia."
MIELE - "Light and natural nude shade with honey undertones and a very opaque finish."
CAPPUCCINO - "Warm amber rose with brown undertones, really elegant and velvety."
BALLERINA - "Cold and harmonious neutral pink, the best "my lips but better" effect."
PASTELLO EYE PENCILS:
(From top to bottom: CincillĂ , VanitĂ , Corona, Pioggia, Gioia, Liquirizia, Petrolio)
These babies have had a makeover too!
Their lid, as opposed to the lip pencils, is light grey, and the texture is indeed a completely different thing compared to the previous formula.
I recently re-swatched "Reversal" (one of the old pencils that I own) and I remembered it being - regardless of how much I love that light lilacy matte colour - a bit rough on the skin. Well, people, THE NEW FORMULATION is sooooooooomething else.

It results to be nearly as buttery as the lip pencils. It applies ever so smoothly, which is quite pleasant, although the sticky Italian weather really did challenge it. It was horrific to discover how oily my lids got, so they manage to melt it a little bit.
But not all hope is lost: I believe they will be absolutely fine in the winter (glorious season may it be blessed by the makeup gods), and plus, it showed how versatile these pencils are as well. They're easy to blend and can (MUST) be used as eyeshadow. Would be a shame not to, the colours are gorgeous!
The shades I got to try:
LIQUIRIZIA - "Solid black with a matte finish."
VANITA' - "Intense, dark indigo violet with pink and orange glitter."
PETROLIO - "Dark blue with green undertones and sky-blue shimmers."
CINCILLA' - "Delicate taupe brown with a shimmer finish."
PIOGGIA - "Brown/dove grey with a matte finish."
GIOIA - "Metallic and shiny pinky beige with cold undertones."
