Aeolian Summer Collection - Neve Cosmetics

They had it planned for a while, and now we can finally talk about it. Enjoy this post on the new Aeolian Summer Collection, hope you find it useful!
PACKAGING:
Girl, I see you. This time you'll be stunned by the beauty of their packaging, as I can say it is pure art. The beautiful result of an outstanding collaboration between the Neve's Art Director & Francesca Gerlanda di Francia, which brought this limited edition box containing
  • 2 Shadows
  • 3 Eye Pencils
  • 1 Vernissage Lip Gloss
The scene represented on the lid is a blue-haired mermaid emerging from the sea water, with a boat and a volcano in the background. The colours match the news products from the Italian brand, resulting in an exceptionally aesthetically pleasing, harmony. I'm thankful to Neve for letting me discover such a talented artist, of which pieces remind me so much of the melancholic eyes I love, love, loooove, in Tim Burton's movies. The idea of the box gave everything quite a tasteful touch.

A Summer collection dedicated to the Aeolian Islands in Sicily. Nothing screams patriotism more than a makeup collection entirely inspired by what our country has to offer. It is one of the reasons why this brand, from my point of view, should be more on the spot.

Lemme give you a few basic information on where we're headed on this magnificent journey.

Setting.

The Aeolian Islands are a volcanic archipelago in the Tyrrhenian Sea north of Sicily named after the demigod of the winds Aeolus. The islands' inhabitants are known as Aeolians (Italian: Eoliani). The Aeolian Islands are a popular tourist destination in the summer and attract up to 200,000 visitors annually.
The largest island is Lipari and the islands are sometimes referred to as the Lipari Islands or Lipari group.
The other islands include Vulcano, Salina, Stromboli, Filicudi, Alicudi, Panarea and Basiluzzo.

WHAT DO I THINK OF IT?
I had the pleasure of trying out this bunch of goodies and test their longevity, and I've been quite happy with them. I have to say I didn't expect anything less than what I got. The shades of this entire collection are probably my favourite colours in general, but my least favourite if applied on my face, as I think blue on my type of green eyes and dark grey on my specific feature don't look that great. But I found a way to make them work for me. Firstly, the shadows are perfect, but I find it's easy for Neve to produce beautiful shimmers. Salina is my favourite, I believe everyone's favourite actually!

They are both designed to be applied directly on the lid, with a warmer brown as contrast on the crease. Vulcano's the neutral alternative to the very bright and gorgeous Salina, and you can use them both separately, or, as I've done, mixed together. How?
I put on Salina and Vulcano on top, and it became a stunning blueish grey tone, a flattering combination for all skin and eye colours. They are all extremely pigmented and soft, don't enhance lines or anything.
I have worn the eyeliners together with the shadows, and I found no issue in applying them, as well as I had no problem in having my makeup lasting 5+ hours. Flawless. And I, for sure, will be posting something on Instagram, so keep your eyes peeled! ;)

Sunrise with Sea Monsters....I'm looking for a word to describe it appropriately, and all I can think of is CUTE. It's fresh, delicate, very summery, although as I'm not a gloss lover myself and have been converted before by Neve's Vernissages, this one's not my personal favourite.

I haven't got very defined lips, so the more pigment is in a lip product, so I can give shape to them, the better. Would work fine on top of another lip tint, or pastello pencil. As for durability, I'm afraid eating and drinking don't go well with it, but you know the drill with glosses.

Let me know what you think about this collection & your favourite Summer destination in the comments, see you in the next one! X
